Cyfarthfa 200 is an exhibition bringing together original work from schools and community groups, together with Museum collections celebrating Cyfarthfa Castle’s Bicentenary. Since it was built in 1825 as a family home for the Crawshay Ironmasters, the Castle has also been a Grammar school and continues to house a Museum and Art Gallery. We have worked with Artist Gemma Schiebe, Penydre High School, Dowlais Visual Arts Group, Caedraw Primary, Goetre, Cyfarthfa Park Primary Schools and Merthyr Valley Homes Youth Group.
Cyfarthfa 200 Schools and Community Exhibition would not have been possible without the partnerships and support of MTCBC Community Cohesion Officers Ruth Mason and Amy Mcnally for providing us with Community Cohesion Funding. This funding ensures that access to resources, workshops and participation was possible without any financial barrier. Special thanks to Liz Bowen for providing resources from Dewi Bowen and the teachers of our schools. Mrs L. Hughes, L. Nicholls and E. Scott-Thomas of Goetre, Mr R Price of Cyfarthfa Park Primary, Adam Griffiths of Penydre and Miss M Williams, J Stokes, A Fleet, Mr S Beale and Miss C Flaherty of Caedraw.
Thank you to all the children and members of Penydre High School, Dowlais Visual Arts, Caedraw, Goetre and Cyfarthfa Park Primary Schools, Merthyr Valley Homes Youth and the Twyn Sewing Bee’s for bringing your vision of Cyfarthfa to life.
Finally, our artist collaborators, Kiera Moran and Gemma Schiebe.
