Since the Museum first opened in 1910, members of the public have kindly donated objects to our collection.
We have built up a collection of around 18,000 objects in years since the museum was established. As a result, we currently have very little capacity to store and display new objects coming into the collection.
Thanks to a grant from Welsh Government in 2023 to increase our art storage, we do have some capacity to continue collecting framed artworks. For all other collection types, we regret that we are unable to accept new public donations at this point in time.
This is to ensure that we can adequately care for the objects we already hold and that collection storage does not become overcrowded. It will also give us the time to fully catalogue our current collections and help us to identify our priorities for future collecting.
This is a temporary measure and we look forward to accepting objects again in the future.
Please consider offering your objects to another museum or archive in the meantime.
